Clue, Plant-based Diet and an Olympic Party

Hi Peak Performer!

I've got a question for you and it's if you had a great weekend?

Because we sure did.

And what made is so great?

Well, it's because we had so much quality family time and some great meals.

Some of the fun things we got up to included going to the beach on Saturday for a swim followed by dinner and ice cream with some friends. And on Sunday the girls made French toast which was delicious with bread from Sprout, then we attended a send off party for Malindi before she goes to Tokyo for the Olympics. Later that night we played a game of Clue with Olivia (8 years).

And this is my favourite part of the story.

You see Olivia is kind of like my mini-me. She looks a lot like I did at that age and we're both into the Mandalorian, skiing, waterslides and theme parks.

She also loves to read, is a good athlete and quite competitive.

Anyways, as we were playing Clue with our friends, Cody and Melissa, Olivia could not catch a break. Anytime someone got a Clue card it always ended up with Olivia having to reveal one of her cards.

Now if you haven't played Clue the object is to figure out who committed the murder, with which weapon and in which room. Players move about the board making guesses to figure out the details of who, what and where to solve the murder.

With all of Olivia's cards revealed it would be near impossible for her to win the game.

But she thought it was hilarious considering her situation and played on trying to win.

And there were 3 things I realized I loved about this including:

1. She had the most positive attitude of everyone playing in spite of her predicament.

2. She didn't quit or give up. She played as though she could win.

3. She wanted to play again once the game was over even though it was too late.

She has a better, more mature attitude than I do as an adult. There have been times when I'm competing with friends and I'm not having the best day.

And I'll be honest, it probably comes through in my attitude and my behaviour.

So this was a good lesson for me.

Thank you Olivia, for reminding me to be a good sport. Thank you for demonstrating that you always give your best even when you're down and out. And thank for you being so fun to play with.

Over the past year we've learned to do a number of things to prevent catching and spreading COVID including washing our hands, wearing masks, sanitizing, limiting gatherings and now getting vaccinated.

But the foods we eat have an impact on our susceptibility of catching COVID. And if we do catch it, our diet influences how bad our symptoms could be.

2. Olympic Watch Party

On Saturday August 7th Malindi will compete in the marathon. And as this is on a Saturday and a medal event we will gather to watch and cheer her on.

We have booked a space that holds up to 50 people and we'll have food and drink. Maybe some door prizes and games?

3. Water Bottles - Going, Going, Gone

We have a collection of water bottles from the past while. If you are missing one, make sure to take a look at the collection.

As we are unable to donate this type of item during COVID we will recycle them soon.
